Short on players and missing our Captain Norma-Jean, the team had a tough assignment against the top team in the grade Wyndham.
We had our usual sluggish start and were down a couple of tries before Antonio sparked the team into life with a couple of well taken tries, including a fantastic try line to try line effort.
Once again the team strung together some great phases with excellent technique around the ruck area to recycle the ball. The forwards of Flynn, Jono, Harry and Billy battled away against a bigger pack and Billy continued to lead the way with his tackling.
In the backs, Jacko distributed the ball well to provide the opportunities for Antonio and Armani to make great gains with the ball in hand. Both Armani and Antonio (in particular) kept the tries coming to keep Kiwi Hawthorn in touch on the scoreboard but despite a valiant effort we ended up a couple of tries short of the win.
Still all the coaches were very proud of the team who are all continuing to develop their skills and I’m sure a win is very close. Winner of the medal for this week was Jacko – great work on your passing Jacko.
