A sunny Saturday morning welcomed the first game for our under 10s under the Kiwi Hawthorn banner and in their new strip.
A big thank you to Racing Rugby for lending us 5 players, and thank you to the players themselves for giving their all in their adopted team colours. We also welcomed Aidan to the team, returning to Kiwi Hawthorn rugby after a couple of years away.
The Kiwi Hawthorn team got off to a flyer with an early try before the game ebbed and flowed with the sides trading tries and conversions.
There were good efforts across the park, with Thomas getting stuck into the rucks & mauls, Harry running strongly with the ball in hand and Jacko distributing the ball to his backs.
Although just down at half time the boys continued to give their best with Aidan leading the way in his tackling and Henry also growing in confidence with his tackling & mauling.
At the end though they fell 2 points short of a first win for the season.
Great effort from all the boys but the medal for player of the day went to Racing Rugby’s Ben Brown, playing his first ever game of rugby he had a barnstorming game in all facets of play – well done Ben.
