Another stunning Melbourne autumn morning, boy have we been lucky!
We travelled to Harlequins again to to test just how far we have come and despite missing Devonte, we played well and the spirit that we brought to the game would have made our families and our Club proud.
After a quick warm up, Charlie was named Captain and led our boys, including a few very good players from Harlequins, out onto the ground. Charlie soon showed great leadership attacking the ball and running some very nice lines in support and then through the Harlequin line.
Billy and Lucas were busy as always ripping and driving and running and fending; a powerful combination that will be great fun to watch as it develops in the years to come.
Darcy and Adonai combined beautifully, with dogged tackling, strong ball carrying and good offloads to create the gap and get to the line.
But once again Abraham starred with was it two, three tries? Hard to keep count. When he is at full pace he is (almost) unstoppable.
All the boys are learning to use the side line in the tackle and we saw the first decent clearouts at the breakdown this week: all our training is paying off.
At the end of the game it was a very tough decision, but Lucas was named ‘Best on Ground’ for his determination and impact on the ball: keep it up Lucas, we’re proud of you!
