Back again at John Gardiner Reserve this week for the Kiwi Hawthorn under 10s, and although we welcomed Jonathon back we were down on numbers this week so we had a seven aside game against Eltham who were in a similar boat.

The boys dominated the early possession and linked well with several good runs from Aidan, Harry and Henry. But unfortunately Eltham’s speedsters made better use of the extra space to rattle off tries in quick succession. Henry put in some great tackles to slow the progress and they almost responded just before the stroke of half time through Aidan, but came up just short.

The second half saw the boys lift further with strong running from Thomas and Flynn, and a couple of nice touches from Jonathon passing to team mates in space.

Great teamwork and support play from Aidan, Harry and Flynn saw Flynn go within a whisker of scoring.

But the boys never gave up and following another combination of runs finished with Thomas driving through the middle of the pack before offloading to Henry who scored beside the posts.

What a great way to finish the game and a great effort boys.

Congratulations to Aidan who was player of the day.
