What would it be like to play for your country?

Rugby is an Olympic sport and our Womens Team are reigning Olympic Champions.

Hear Charlotte Caslick’s story:

Your pathway to Olympic Gold starts here!  Take that first step.  Come along to training.  You never know where it might lead you.

In 2018 Rugby Victoria launched a dedicated Girls Rugby competition.

This is a fantastic milestone that all of the Victorian Rugby community can be proud of and one that we are absolutely delighted by, given the role that our girls have played in making this possible.

If you’d like to try rugby – contact or non-contact – we would love to have you part of our great girls program.

Here are some basic details:

Under 12-Under 15s Touch7s
Non-contact, great fun for all girls aged 11-14 on January 1.  Play for your Club for the chance to win the Vic Girls Touch7s trophy and vie for selection in the State team!  Make a little history, register now or come down to our open training sessions on Tuesday nights to see if Touch7s is right for you.

Training nights: Tuesday 5:30pm – 6:30pm from mid-March
Game time: 12:30pm – 1:30pm Saturdays, Term 2 and most of Term 3, 2 games played each Saturday.

You can join in at any stage of the season on Tuesdays, Saturdays or both!

Under 11 Touch7s
Non-contact, great fun for all girls aged 7-10 on January 1. Get together with your friends or make some new ones playing Touch7s.  It’s great fun and really easy to learn – if you can run with a ball in your hands, you’re playing Touch7s!

For girls aged 16 on January 1 (speak to us if you are a year older or younger, it is possible to play U17s).

Our qualified and experienced coaches will teach you safe and effective skills in contact and you’ll love busting a tackle and scoring a try.  Millions of female rugby players around the world can’t be wrong!

What if I want to play traditional XVs rugby?
We encourage all girls to try the contact version of rugby which from 2018 are governed by weight-for-age bandings.

Rugby offers a way for kids to test themselves and learn to manage their physical capabilities in a positive, welcoming, team-based environment.

Our game is truly ‘a game for all’ – no other sport provides an opportunity for all kids, no matter their size or shape, to play and enjoy sport.

All our junior contact teams are mixed, meaning girls can play U8-U12 XVs tackle rugby in Hawthorn.
